DESTRUCTION OF THE DEVIL’S WORKS
(I Jn. 3:8)

SUBJECT: JESUS CAME TO DESTROY THE DEVIL’S WORKS

I. JESUS CAME FOR ONE PURPOSE

That purpose is to destroy the Devil’s works. Jesus has delivered us from the power of darkness. (Colossians 1:13-14)

Jesus qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. (Colossians 1:12).

Jesus has strengthened us with might. (Colossians 1:11)
Jesus has reconciled you into a holy and blameless life. (Colossians 1:19-23)

II. JESUS CAME TO EMPOWER YOU TO BE HOLY

The modern church spends much energy focusing on the grace of God. The purpose of grace is to empower you with the cleansing power of the Blood as you pursue holy godly living. Grace puts you in a position that is free from the consequences of sin. Grace does not give you a free license to sin. Grace gives you empowerment to be filled with Jesus Christ through the Holy Ghost. His grace is sufficient in your weakness because His power will overcome your weakness in the flesh as you battle to illuminate sin from your lives. (II Cor. 12).

Man’s purpose upon this earth is not to commit sin. Pastors who are teaching that it is normal that we sin every day, need to research I Jn 3:8 until they understand that it is not normal for the Spirit filled believer to sin. This is why Jesus came, to destroy the works of the devil. We have assurance in the saving power of Jesus’ blood, but sin should be activity that we want out of our lives immediately. The more sin is destroyed out of our lives, the more peace can prosper. Health can prosper in our bodies. Wealth becomes attainable. The Kingdom of God will be strengthened by the holiness shining forth from our lives.

This is not the teaching of perfectionism. It is the teaching of a perfect work done in us by a wonderful Savior who has destroyed the devil’s works from our lives. In simple layman’s terms, It is a process of sanctification through the blood of Jesus Christ purifying our lives from a sinful nature to a spiritual nature. This is why we call ourselves born again.

Conclusion: So what do we do? We humbly accept the Scripture that Jesus has defeated Satan and we can walk in victory over sin, sickness, poverty and defeat through a holy life in Christ.
